Escape From Butcher Bay Graphics Issue

Hi all,

I just recently bought this second hand at EB games. Installed with no problems and updated to patch 1.1. I start the game and it begins to go through all the developers (Universal, Vivendi, etc.) without a problem. I get to the main menu and the graphics are completely stuffed. There is nothing on the Main Menu.

Below is a link to screenshots I took. The first 3 i took are a couple of different "tears" in the graphics at the main menu and 1 normal shot. The fourth is what the main menu looks like. The 5th, 6th and 7th screenshots are in game. I have not had had any normal graphics whatsoever and just guessed at how to get in to the game, thus the final 3 sreenshots.

Here is what I have tried so far:

1. uninstall/re-install game (on many occasions)
2. tried without patching
3. uninstall/re-install graphics drivers (even tried omega drivers but was no good as it only had opengl 1)
4. no-cd fixes
5. exhaustively google for a solution

My specs are as follows:

WinXP SP3
P4 2.4GHz
1.25 GB RAM DDR1
ATI Radeon 9600XT

This was years ago so it might not apply to you but:

Riddick uses OpenGL 1.x, the problem I needed a patch for was drivers not including 1.x. For me the "riddick opengl" google results did the trick.

Yeah OpenGL is not a problem unless I install the omega drivers.

I am not getting any error messages just the screwed up graphics 🙁

I don't think it would cause the problems you're experiencing, but regardless, is a 9600XT really enough for Riddick? The graphics are ridiculously good for when it came out.

According to Can You Run It, not only do I meet the minimum requirements, I also meet the recommended.

I never got that game to run at all till steam released them. I still have my old copy and even patched it never ran right.

Your lappy is better suited to torchlight type games.
