Yeah I'm looking to get this boxed set as well. Usually Amazon or Buy.com will have these boxed sets for incredible prices (~$100) but I have yet to see it on this series. Hope someone finds a good deal on this...i'm very interested to buy it.

the only anime series i've seen are dbz and kenshin..have yet to finish either though My roommate got kenshin off eb*y for a good price so maybe you can check there for dvd sets. btw, how good is escaflowne compared to the above mentioned?

that's not bad.....i just saw the movie last night, series was much better, but it was good nonetheless.....i'm looking to buy it myself.....

Full Metal Panic! is also recommendable, some parts are cheesy, story is rather odd (but what anime series isnt) and season 1 just finished. they use some cgi too

$142 shipped is awesome, I payed about that even when I pre-ordered. If your thinking about getting the box at all, snatch it up! Remember, it's a limited edition box... numbered and all. Look at the Cowboy Bebop Perfect Sessions, it can't be had for less than $300 on ebay now. If you like the series at all, it's worth every penny.

If you are on a budget this series can be picked up on VCD for around $40 - of course the transfer is not quite as good and its missing the dvd extras, but for less than 1/3 the price its worth considering

Usually, VCDs are bootleg copies, and are not officially licensed. Personally, I'm against bootlegs, especially for stuff that has been officially licensed in America.

Animeondvd.com has a share the love list going on in their forums. The good part about the Share the Love program is if you buy a lot of DVDs, you'll get an additional 10% off if you order something that someone of the Share the Love list ordered. The bad part is that you get emailed everytime someone orders something. For anime preorders, it comes out to roughly 33%, because Amazon is about 25% off on their preorders. For example, Escaflowne Box set lists at $199.99. Amazon has it for 25% off list at $149.99. Share the Love is an additional 10% off, so it went down to $134.99, which is 33% off the list.

Actaully I looked into it a bit and SOME versions of the VCD are officially liscenced (though for Asia not North America).

I am also against bootlegs. I prefer the english dub on the dvds. Bootlegs usually have the original japanese track with subtitles. People usually complain about english dubs but I don't have a problem with it.

The R1 Perfect Sessions are OOP. There was limited production, around 10,000 were made. They were numbered as well, similar to the Escaflowne box set. I suspect Escaflowne will go up in value as well when the box goes OOP. Also, the Escaflowne box is huge and come with a LE action figure that only comes with the box set.
