ESC K7S5A & T-Bird 1.2 only reading 900Mhz

I just installed a new K7S5A and I already had the T-Bird 1.2 and I know its good because I took it out of my other PC. Its only reading 900Mhz. Im using Mushkin PC 100 SDram 128Megs. In the BIOS setting I can change the ram settings but it wont let me tab down to the mulitplier settings and change them to anything else? I tried clearing the CMOS and still the samething. Im using a older Enlight case the one piece case with a 250 Watt PS? It also worked fine pulling a Duron 600@1Ghz out of it. I was able to format/Install win2000 just fine its just the mulitplier is set to 9X at 100MHZ?

try to set the fsb settings to 133/100 (cpu/ram), your fsb is probably currently 100 (9x100=900,9x133=1200)
so just look up in your manual how to set fsb speed to 133
 
Most likely that 250 watt PS will not be sufficient. I don't think it is the source of your trouble yet, but it will be later. You just need to set the FSB to 133 and the RAM to 100 as was already mentioned. Even so, you may have difficulty booting much longer. The 300 watt Enlight PS was only rated "up to" a 1.0 (possibly a 1.2) T-Bird; the 250 watt is just not going to cut it. It draws more power than your Duron.

There are only 3 choices in the K7S5A's BIOS settings: 100/100, 100/133, and 133/133 (FSB/RAM), so if you want to get to 1.2Ghz, you have to choose 133/133 since there is no setting for multiplier adjustment and no 133/100 option.

I also agree that you'll be looking for trouble with 250W power supply and a 1.2Ghz CPU. Well you could try with the 133/133 setting, if it doesn't boot, better get a stick of PC133 DRAM. Now you can understand why people call this board with "limited" (another word for non-existent) overclocking options
 
Exactly - since there is no CPU/RAM setting of 133/100, you're stuck with 100 MHz CPU bus as long as you use PC100 SDRAM or PC1600 DDR.

Thanks for the help guys! Setting it to 133/133 it booted up @ 1.2 Ghz! 🙂 For some reason 133/133 doesnt sound right the memory being PC 100. Anyways it seems to be running great right now on the 250Watt PS. Just installed Office 2000 and about to install WinSP2. Im building this PC for my brother so Ill tell him to be safe and save up for a new PS and Ill switch it out ASAP.
