Hello.

I have an ongoing problem with my WD mybook 500 GB external drive. The board is an ASUS P6T deluxe, OS is Vista Home premium 64 bit.

It works perfectly on USB 2.0 , but just would not work on eSATA, it is not even detected by windows. I have my internal drives in RAID 0 . I read I should switch to AHCI but when I did that I just got an error saying 'no OS'.

I also tried reinstalling the intel storage manager drivers, but there was no effect. I could really use some help here.

Thanks in advance.

first enable ahci in your windows through registry.
then put mother boards sata controller in ahci mode.
you should have boot with vista.

i hope this helps.

you meant something like this?

Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Msahci
In the right pane, right-click Start in the Name column, and then click Modify.
In the Value data box, type 0, and then click OK.

unfortunately that did not work.

Have you loaded the drivers for the Marvell chip that controls the eSATA?

It looks like you have a Marvell 88SE6111 controller but you should check your MB manual to make sure.

Go to the Marvell site to download the driver.

Looks like you need file "yk60x64_v11.30.1.3.zip" for Vista 64bit.

AFAIK, AHCI is already enabled when you are using RAID.

Let us know if that works for you.

I think it is Marvell indeed. I hope the driver on the motherboard's DVD is also OK.

We'll see.
