I was wondering if there were any enclosures that has auto shut-off when your pc goes to sleep mode or shuts down?

Also are there any enclosures that tells the hard drive to spin-down when its not in use?

I'm pretty sure the Antec MX-1 does go into a "standby" mode when the computer's sleeping or shut down ... that is, it spins down and turns off, with the fan still spinning at a very low RPM.

That's an interesting question. I have an external eSATA drive in a NexStar 3 enclosure, and have a very simple solution. Its power cord is connected to a multi-switch power box that sits under my monitor. I only turn that drive on when I want to use it - otherwise it is always off. I have never trusted sleep or hibernate or much of anything automated.

I've only seen that on some pre-builts...maybe some Seagate externals and it may have been spindown?

I've never heard of one.
