Hi all,

got a prob where my esata drive is not detected. using a hard drive dock with esata which is connected to sata port 3 on the mobo (ex58-ud4p). i had ahci mode selected before win7x64 install. now if i have the dock powered up before turning on the computer, everything is fine. but if the dock is off and computer is running, you know, like ACTUALLY hot swapping drives, it never gets detected even if rescan devices in device manager AND disk manager. i googled around and found i should set some registry key but all those settings are correct already. any other ideas? thanks!

ok so with the initial win7x64 ahci install using microsoft's default ahci driver, that little plug button in the system tray is there and allows you to eject the disk. but swapping in the new drive means nothing gets detected.

so, i just installed the latest ich10r ahci driver downloaded from intel's site. and now hotswapping works! EXCEPT that the plug button in the system tray is missing. so now i have to go to device manager, disable the drive, turn off the power to the dock, remove drive, insert new drive, turn on power, and then enable in device manager. hey at least it works now right..?
