Error when trying to install win7 from usb

I have been trying to install windows 7 from a usb stick for the past few weeks on multiple computers. Everytime i boot from the usb stick i get this black screen that says:

The windows boot configuration data file does not contain a valid os entry

I have gotten this error on every single laptop that i have tried to install windows 7 from. I used the windows iso to usb tool from microsoft. And the windows iso is not corrupt because when i tried to install it from a cd which i burnt the iso to, it worked fine. Does anyone have any ideas what the problem might be?
 
Recreate the USB installation (format the USB drive and go through the process again). It sounds like something didn't get set up properly.
 
I've found the Microsoft ISO to USB utility to sometimes be problematic. On the other hand, I've never had any problems creating bootable USB flash installation media using Easy2Boot

.
 
Ive gotten it to load into windows 7 setup. Now i get the error:

"A required cd/dvd device driver is missing. if you have a driver floppy disk, cd, dvd, or usb flash drive please insert now."

I read that this happens when you install from usb 3.0 port, there is a whole thread discussing this here http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...512-b175-d02871394461?page=1&tm=1380047296574. They have managed to solve the issue by using a usb 2.0 port instead. However, while this did work for the majority of people, it has no effect on me. Changing the port results in the exact same error.

I threw an old hdd in the laptop and it shows up and installs fine with the usb now. I used a different program to burn it.

Now when i throw the ssd back into the laptop, the only way for me to get it to run the setup is in ahci mode. Then before i get to select a drive, it says "a required cd/dvd device driver is missing etc..." When inserting another usb with device driver on it, its not even being detected at this point in time. Whats worse is that if i go to command prompt and type in list disk, the ssd is not shown, only the usb is. However the ssd is detected in the bios.
 
I try it on my T430 Laptop and my Desktop Asus Gene-Z.
On both machine the problem was with usb3.
When using usb2 there were no error messages and the SSD showed up on the list.

I used the Microsoft tool to created the usb installation from a dell windows 7 sp1 DVD.

Tried both usb3 and usb2 neither work.


Also i tried to put drivers on the windows usb, but nothing shows up when i actually browse the usb looking for the drivers during windows installation, this is extremely awkward. My usb drive is: Drive I: . When it allows me to browse for files in the windows setup, it shows My computer-> Boot drive x-> within boot drive x, it shows program files, users, my documents etc... It looks nothing like the files that are on the usb drive, and more like an actual hard drive.
 
So the SSD is recognized in the bios, but not in GPARTED or Windows install. Maybe i should hook it up into someone desktop and see if windows recognizes as a secondary. From there i might be able to format it, and get it to work.
 
Why not run the install in non-ahci mode and then convert it once its installed? I've converted from IDE to ahci a few times successfully.
