Desktop rig in sig below, using W7 with IE10.

Very often, when I click on a link to download a program, patch or such, I will get an error message:

Most of the time I can detour around it by using 'save target as' but that doesn't always present itself. Right now I'm trying to download drivers from Dell for another computer and I'm not able to do so.

Do you have an IE plugin installed called "MyDownloader"?

looks like a sketchy download manager plugin that doesnt work with IE10 at first glance. Try IE10 in safe mode (with all plugins disabled) and see if it still does it.

That fixed it... I disabled just that plugin and it worked fine. I had that problem in IE9, too.

Thank you!

If you don't use that program, it's best to uninstall it. I've seen software with supposedly-disabled IE plug-ins still cause problems.

Yes, as soon as I get through this download session, I'm fixing to pull the plug on that plugin... ^_^

Well, this is what shows up in Everything, but Download Manager does not show up in Programs, so I can't 'uninstall' it. SAS says it quarantined it, but I didn't see it in the log.

What would be the best way to get rid of this thing???

If it no longer appears in the IE plug-ins list, I think that would be good enough for me.

Joy. Does SAS = SuperAntiSpyware?

If you google for 'autoruns', it should show you a MS TechNet site as one of the first results. Download that utility, run it as admin, when it finishes scanning go into the 'Internet Explorer' tab, find the naughty plug-in, right-click, delete.
