I'm trying to install windows vista beta 2 32 bit from the HDD as a clean install on a new, windows formatted partition, and it will go well and restart for the first time, but when the setup loads it will only show the grey scrolling stripe after a while it will give me a page file in nonpage area blue screen.

Running an emachines computer with 1 gig of ram, 2 ghz amd processor 32 bit, 120 gig IDE hard drive, Nvidia geforce 4 card with geforce 2 chipsets. All RAM tests come back as having no bad ram.

I've also tried installing from the DVD and from an .iso using Daemon Tools with the same problem

Any ideas?

Possible bad download. Any errors at all during the install, (file transfer), with the DVD? Did you verify Checksum?

I get no errors during download or during the first part of the install, until it restarts for the first time and then I get the BSOD.

I *think* I might have verified the checksum. Is that the same as an MD5? If so, everything matched as it should

How long does the BSOD stay and are there any error messages on it? If so what are they?

The BSOD would stay until I restarted the computer and then it would ask me if I wanted to boot into XP or go into setup, I'd go into setup and it'd just do the same thing with the blue screen all over again unless I booted into XP.

As for error messages, it was something about a page fault in nonpaged area. Other than that I don't remember and I'd have to get back to you on it if that's what you need

If there is a page fault error (invalid page fault), the code can usually tell you what the problem is.

Write down the code and then Google it, you will probably find an answer.

Okay here is what I get

Computer has detected an error, windows has been shut down to prevent further damage.

due to a page fault in nonpage area

Check software and hardware to see if installed correctly, blah blah blah.

Then at the bottom:

STOP
0x00000050
0x00000001
0x86310000
0x00000000

Any insight?

This is the closest I could find to your error code on the microsoft knowledge base,
Link
My guess would be either a memory problem or a device connected to your computer. Could also be a setting in your bios.
Wish I could be of more help but sometimes these errors are difficult to run down.
