error when installing the new Radeon 9100

Hi, i have an old nvidia card(Geforce 1st generation) and now i bought a new Radeon 9100 card.

i use WinXP pro

before i shut down, i uninstalled the nvidia driver from the add and remove program(control panel)

after i shut down, i unplug the videocard(geforce) and then plug in the new one(radeon 9100)

when i go to safe mode, the color and resolution seems correct.(800x600@16bit)

but when i go in using normal mode(normal boot), it locked me in the "welcome" screen, and poping the following error messages:
Windows Delay Write failed - Windows was unable to save all the data fro the D:\$MFT .......
Windows Delay Write failed - Windows was unable to save all the data fro the D:\ .......
Windows Delay Write failed - Windows was unable to save all the data fro the E:\ .......
Windows Delay Write failed - Windows was unable to save all the data fro the E:\$MFT .......

after that i have ... can't load profile , profile is missing(something like that)
and "A problem is preventing windows to check licence .........

this will not happen when i go to safe mode. All the problems are uder Radeon 9100 normal boot..

so what's wrong with it?

thanks

actually what is the steps that u will do to remove a nvidia card and replace with a ati.

i can't find standard vga under winxp pro.

i didn't bother erasing registry before installing radeon.

people, please help me, i don't know what to do.

Delete or uninstall the drivers from the device manager, I'm not sure if the add/remove programs does the same thing. If that doesn't work, download the Detonator R.I.P. from guru3d.com.
They used to have a 'detonator destroyer' program, but that seems to have been replaced with this aforementioned program.

and now, no matter the boot is successful or not, it will check my D: and F: for error before windows starts(blue screen)
after verifying, it will load, but i will scan no matter i have a good or bad boot last time.

and when i use the Detonator RIP program....

it says "The application filed t initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click on OK to termiante the application."

so the program is having problem.

this is what i would do:

reinstall the old card and drivers

back up all your data

format the hard drive and start afresh!

it sounds long drawn but its the best solution with the least headache

sounds reasonable but... i just discover something else.

Yes i did reinstall the 43.xx det driver using the old card.

under display setting/advance/adapter/properties/drivers/drivers details...

there are only 2 files showing. and the driver date is 7/2/2001 version 2.9.5.8

and i don't see any nvidia tap in the display settings either.

is that the windows build in nvidia driver.?

what is ur Apecture Size in cmos?

I have a Radeon 9100 128MB DDR.

my old card has 32mb, so the apecture size was 64mb.

i can install the 3.2 catalyse driver succesfully, but if it is successful? i can't get it boot correctly. all those mentioned above error message popup all at once.

if i use windows default/build in drivers, seems ok.

i need ur help!

Norton Ghost was created for such a time as this. Nice to be able to put in bootable disk and reflash your OS, drivers, and crucial programs.

happy formating

I have the same problems with the damn radeon 9100 installation after having a gf2 there. This is such an annoyance by both nvidia and ati, neither has botherd itself to supply a propper removal utility to the old drivers, causing huge driver conflicts. This is a stupid way to do things, to reinstall the damn OS for a freaking graphics card??!!! its like if I had to change a whill on my car I had to also change the engine??!! wtf? people this crap is wrong and outrageous!

quixands, u reinstall windows?
i somehow got it going with minor problems....(sigh*)

I just keep installing the new driver and trying different settings in cmos.
now i can get it running very smooth.
