Error when getting properties of drive

I temporarily installed a new SATA drive so that I could cope a disk image from a USB drive to the new drive. After the image copy was completed I attempted to right click to check the properties & bam, "windows has encountered a problem & must close". Since then I have removed the drive all, but still get the error no matter what drive letter I try to examine.

Even using Disk Management to get the properties causes the same error.

Anyone see this before or have any suggestions as to a fix?

TIA!

From a command prompt sfc /scannow

Have your windows cd ready, it will compare OS files to the cd and repair if need be. Dont worry the os isnt reinstalled or anything, just missing/corrupt files are repaired

Thanks for your reply.

I tried every WinXP Pro disk I could locate in the house, thats 4 of them, & none of them work with sfc /scannow.
