Error when extracting new F@H SMP client

blert

Senior member
So I downloaded the new SMP client and and had an error message when trying to extract it. Tried to do it again (download/install)- same thing.

I figured it was just this computer being stupid, so I tried it on the next one- same thing.

The next, same...

The next, same....

The next, same....

See a pattern here?

Uninstalled all FOH stuff, tried again, same thing...:|

The error is:

"The data section of this self-extracting file has been damaged.
(CRC Error:ShouldBe:2d288b3cf, is:c35753EA)"

Anybody else getting this? Getting a little frustrated with the whole deal now...

Anyone want to email me a copy so I can see if it is my computers being stupid? PM me if you will...

EDIT: these are all freshly downloaded copies from Stanford

No, I didn't get that. I installed the new client on 5 machines so far without seeing the glitch you are.

Try to get a fresh copy. It's a tad smaller than the old one.

blert,

It sounds like your copy got corrupted when you downloaded it. If that copy is still in your cache when you try to get it again, it will just use that same copy instead of downloading a new one. Cleare your internet cache (temporary) files. (maybe search on the name of the client to make it easier to find... then delete it)

Now when you go back for a new one... you'll really get one. If you are using a download manager or accelerator you should probably turn it off.

Good luck!
