Not positive this is a motherboard issue, but it seems to be happening upon Post? I have an intel board and occassionally get an Intel screen that says basically the following:

Keyboard Detected
Mouse Detected
USB Legacy Enabled

Fixed Disk 0 160WJB
Ultra DMA etc...

Secondary Master ATPI
Incompatable

F4 to resume

I hit F4 and it then boots.

My secondary master is my DVD drive which appears to be working fine.

Anyone have any clues?

Thanks in advance!

When you say your DVD drive is working fine, what do you mean? Did it work fine in an old system, does it work fine now once Windows loads?

It is newish to this system, but has worked everytime I've needed it, and the problem showed up months after I installed it.

Thanks for looking at my post! I hope this info helps.

Most likely its some kind of issue between the BIOS of your motherboard & the optical drive you have, the first thing to do would be to swap in another optical drive & see if it goes away.. if not then you know its in the motherboard.
As a work-around, you can also go into your motherboards BIOS setup & look for a the "halt on errors" setting ... the default setting for this is halt on all errors, change this setting to "none" & the problem should be ignored during boot-up.

Thanks for the help. It's odd though that it never did this before and now it only does it every few times I turn on the PC.

The BIOS has the latest firmware too. Do most people turn off halt on errors? I've always wondered if it was safe to do so.

Do you think the DVD drive is fully functional and this error is just a start-up glitch?

Thanks!
