error: Please insert disc

Ok so hears the deal. I upgraded an to XP and now all of the sudden my CDRW does not work. Windows detects the drive and it pops up in device manager but its unusable. Its a LiteOn Ltr-40125S. When i put a cd it trys to read it that after a minute it says "Please insert disc into drive E." Reloading firmware and drivers didnt work either. I tried the drive on master slave and cable select to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas?

Check Device Manager...verify there are no items with problems.....(they'll be marked with a red or yellow symbol).

Go and download Intel's Chipset drivers.... I just get them off of Intel's site....

if you don't know the chipset, just pick one and download/run the "Chipset ID Utility"... it will tell you what you have.

Download the INF update utility and install..... might fix your problem.

Check my .sig's URL. Run MPS Reports. A bunch of files are created in that .CAB file. Post the filters.txt file's DVD/CD-ROM DRIVES section, which may look something like this:

I suspect you've a few out-of-date filters in there, and if you went in there and removed them, it would work fine. Anyway, post what you've got, and we'll look at it.
