first off, if this is the wrong section to post in, im sorry, please let me know which i should post in. I only post here because the problem still could be anything, i havent been able to rule out just about ANYTHING and its driving me nuts.

ok so basically its a Delayed Write Failed error, and it happens when the harddrives are in use. i have 4x SATA drives, 2x in stripe array and 2x in idividual JBOD arrays. I checked the event viewer and found that there are several errors that occur in quick succession before the error comes up. there are about 12 of them in a row and they all say the following:

-------------------------------------------------------------
Source: nvraid
Event ID: 11

The driver detected a controller error on .

For more information, see Help and Support Center at.

---------------------------------------------------------------

then a couple of warning messages about the delayed write error that look like the following:

MESSAGE1
-------------------------------------------------------------
Source: disc
Event ID: 51

An error was detected on device /Device/Harddisk1/D during a paging operation

For more information, see Help and Support Center at.

MESSAGE2
-------------------------------------------------------------
Source: ntfs
Event ID: 50

{Delayed Write Failed} Windows was unable to save all the data for the file. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere.

Check the connections on your hard drives. This happens when you remove a HD, while it is trying to store a Page into virtual memory.

is it possible that my 500w psu is not powerful enough to power 4x sata harddrives, 2x optical drives, 2gb of ram, bfg 7900gt, 4200+ X2, and like 4 case fans? its an antec neoHE500

EDIT: Because if it isnt, it could be losing power under load (heavy harddrive usage) and then cutting out power to the harddrives and giving write failed errors.

Does this only happen when your cpu is under load? Try disconnecting 3/4 HDs, run Prime or some other stress test and see if you get delayed write errors.
Sata HD's are known to come loose. So make sure they are secure.

no dosent really happen when the cpu is under load. but heres some breaking news: i just used a 2nd comp to basically act as the psu for the hds so comp 1 powers all but the 4 harddrives, then i did a full test of huge transfers with no errors. so its either the power cables commiung loose as you mentioned (which is possible because they were kinda loose when i took them out, or that the psu isnt powerful enough. tho i think its the psu not being powerful enough because the rig dosent move at all and i have tested the cables by jiggling them around and it didnt happen then...so is it really possible for a 500he to not be able to give enough power to the comp???
