Alright, I'm going nuts. IE is continually giving my active scripting runtime errors. Its always Line 46, 48, or 50, but usually Line 46. I have narrowed it to active scripting because it doesn't do it when I turn AS off in Options: Security.

It also is manifesting as an occasional "syntax error." Do I need to reinstall IE?

I don't know squat about coding. Does anybody know how I can permanently fix this WITHOUT disabling scripting? The net is practically useless without Java...

The full message is as follows:

A Runtime Error Has Occurred.
Do you wish to Debug?

Line: 46
Error: Object expected

[Yes] [No]

All help is appreciated! Thanks!

Thank you! I don't know how I missed that. I spent 2 hours searching XP's help center last night...

Thanks again!

I turned off the debugging, but that only gets rid of the annoyance: it doesn't fix the problem.

I ran Adaware and SpybotSD, both freshly updated, and found a few bots. But the problem hasn't been resolved. Another weird thing: it only does it on my Windows user account. My wife's Windows account works just fine.

I've tried turning off Spybot's innoculate feature, and its silent page blocking. I've also turned off Script Blocking in Norton AV. None of these is having any effect. The pages in my account load without the debugging notice, but every page with Java says "Done but with errors on the page" in the bottom corner.

Like I said, I know nothing about Java coding. Any suggestions on how to fix this? It doesn't seem to be IE so much as something else using IE or interfering some how, especially since other user accounts aren't affected. But I don't know how to locate the culprit. I'm stuck.

What if I were to back up My Documents, erase my user account, and then create a new one and start fresh. Think that would do it?

might . have you compared the settings in IE between your account and your wifes to see if any are different ? before deleting your account you can just try creating another and see if it's problem free. i can't find anything else specific to your problem
good luck

Seems I was wrong. I don't know if its new or not, but now she is getting the same errors that I am. I disabled debugging, but the pages are still errored. So I'm going to try repairing IE. Thanks.
