ERROR: OBJECT EXPECTED > Line: 46

Alright, I'm going nuts. IE is continually giving my active scripting runtime errors. Its usually Line 46. I have narrowed it to active scripting because it doesn't do it when I turn AS off in Options: Security.

It also is manifesting as an occasional "syntax error." Do I need to reinstall IE?

I don't know squat about coding. Does anybody know how I can permanently fix this WITHOUT disabling scripting? The net is practically useless without Java...

You can disable script debugging by going into Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Disable script debugging. You'll still get Javascript errors, but you won't be bothered about them.

This sounds like a bigger problem with something that's running and using IE. Do you have anything running in the background that might use IE (AIM, etc). Maybe you should do a scan for spyware.

I ran Adaware and SpybotSD, both freshly updated, and found a few bots. But the problem hasn't been resolved. Another weird thing: it only does it on my Windows account. My wife's Windows account works just fine.

I've tried turning off Spybot's innoculate feature, and its silent page blocking. I've also turned off Script Blocking in Norton AV. None of these is having any effect. The pages in my account load without the debugging notice, but every page with Java says "Done but with errors on the page" in the bottom corner.

Like I said, I know nothing about Java coding. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Like you said, it doesn't seem to be IE so much as something else using IE or interfering some how, especially since other user accounts aren't affected. But I don't know how to locate the culprit. I'm stuck.

What if I were to back up My Documents, erase my user account, and then create a new one and start fresh. Think that would do it?

Try disabling script debugging using the directions from my first reply. It won't disable scripting. It will just stop asking you if you want to debug the script.
I have no idea what could be wrong. Do you have any plug-ins installed for IE?

Sorry, didn't mention that I already did disable the debugging notice. I don't get the error message, but, as I said, the page loads with the "Done but with errors on the page" message in the status bar.

I don't think I'm running any plugins, other than Shockwave and Flash. And Acrobat. I hate RealNetworks, so no R1 player. I do have a JetForms plugin. That might be doing it... I don't know. Maybe I'll clear most of my downloaded program files. Where do I find plugin info for IE?

EDIT: Right. "Look in the Plugins folder, dummy." Looked there. Also have a quicktime plugin that must have been stowed away with iTunes. Nothing else.

I repaired IE by inserting my windows CD and installing the IE.inf in Windows\inf. Seems to have done the trick! Thanks for all help!
