Everytime my friend (who's computer I built) leaves AIM on for long periods of time while being idle, AIM crashes with the following error message. The system is 12+ hours prime stable. I have tried reinstalling several times and turning off all the noficiations, sounds, and aim themes.

Specifications of the system are:
Opteron 165
DFI LP SLI-DR
NVidia 7800GT
2GB G.SKILL HZ
535w enermax
2x 74GB Raptors RAID 0

Is the system overclocked? Sometimes if the system is tweaked it can cause programs and such to run incorrectly. Also, try getting diskkeeper and a registry fixer. I was having the same issues but with a different program. Got diskeeper and registry fixer and all is well now. Also check for viruses and spyware. Windows defrag utility is a joke.

Diskeeper is installed and set to screensaver mode. What registry fixer would you recommend?

After the registry fixer I will try downclocking it.

Ok I ran the registry fixer and it still crashes. I read about people with dual core processors having negative ping times after leaving the computer on for a while, so I tried setting the affinity to CPU 1 for aim.exe. We'll see how that goes. If that doesn't work, I can lower the overclock and try a newer bios.
