Asus p4t533, Raid 1 with onboard Promise controller. The only device installed is a USR 5610B modem. XP Home installed, Intel Inf, and DX 9.0b. Nothing else loaded yet at all.

It is randomly popping up a message that "The system must restart, the Remote Procedure Call Service Unexpectedly Terminated"

It counts down from 45 seconds and reboots.

WTF is that all about. I have no clue. Should I just reinstall and see if it stops or does someone have an idea of what might be foul?

Thanks........

Isn't this the blaster worm? Did you install all the security updates? Do that first...but you have to keep your machine on long enough to do this.

I think you can do "shutdown -a" or something in the RUN command box. Or there is a really easy way to tell it to NOT reboot when a service fails. I forgot how to do that off hand.

But I'm pretty sure if you can install the updates, this won't be a problem. Or I could be totally wrong and someone here is going to tell me that.

Are you on broadband?

EDIT: After reading my post, I realized that I wasn't too helpful with specifics. Sorry.

Yes I figured out that if you are installing XP you must not physically connect it to the network until after the installation has completed and you have a chance to put up a firewall / download all patches.

Heh. The only thing I did online was go to the windows update page. Nowhere else. Hmmmmm.
