error message on scanner...HEEELPPPPPP!!!

Should I call it a bug?
I have a Canon scanner FB630P.
When I want to use it for the first time with the bundled sofware (CanoCraft 3.7), the message show up and said,

Other error.
Error Code: 0x10ff0800

And then I couldn't scan at all!
I tried to disable the paralel and dma as the manual instructed, and even though I had reinstall the program, It still didn't work.
Help me!
My Specs:
Athlon 700MHz
Asus K7V mobo
128 mb sdram
Quantum LM+ 20GB
Asus V6600 (GeForce)

Other people with this problem said they called Canon and their tech support told them to make sure that the PC's Bios has the Printer Port set for Bi-directional or SPP, NOT ECP. EPP might work as well...experiment with it.
