error message during file transfer

I hope somebody can explain to me what the error message says:

"Cannot copy (name of file): The directory or file cannot be created"

The same thing happened to me on my usb drive. Dont' know why. But I created a folder on the usb drive, and instead of trying to copy to the main directory, I copied into the folder and all was well.

well, after I formatted the card, it took care of the problem.
