Error Loading Operating System

I'm trying to install WinXP after I replaced my motherboard and after it copies the files over (if it gets that far) I get the error message: "Error loading operating system."

I've tried different WinXP CDs and different CD-ROM drives...with the same result. Sometimes when it tries to copy files over it will find a corrupt file or sometimes not even enter the setup...Any ideas....is this a HDD problem??

Take your pick

1- Bad CD - Cleaning might help
2 - Bad memory/memory slot - Run Memtest on individual memory sticks, run off floppy or CD so you don't need XP loaded
3 - Bad Drive sector - Run chkdsk or use drive manufactorer's downloaded files so you don't need XP loaded
4 - Something else

(I would try memtest first)
