error: code 10

Hi all... I searched the m$ knowledge base and googled this too and still no solutions so help me out...

I am working on an HP 7920 desktop for a friend and I can't get the ethernet drivers to install. I'm getting error: code 10. The network card is a D-Link DFE-530TX, OS is xp pro sp2. Is it something I have to change in the BIOS as far as IRQ settings? Any help would be appreciated. thanks, i'll be back in the a.m. to check for any responses. zzzzz

edit: oh its a PCI network card. sorry, tired. 🙂
 
Ive had similar problems with that particular card too, it depends on the card revision as well as if you download the drivers from dlink's .com web site or .ca, for some strange reason they are different drivers. so try one at
Dlink Canada and if they dont work then try Dlink Usa
Also the canada support site has 2 different drivers sets 1 from 2003 and 1 from 2000

so try out all 3 sets, one of them should work
 
I dont know if you solved this issue but if you didnt, it could be either an IRQ or memory address conflict with Windows. You can try moving the card into a different PCI slot. As a last resort, eventhough its time consuming and probably not the greatest, try reinstalling Windows if you are able too.
 
I will try a different driver version. Unfortunately I thought moving to another PCI slot *might* get something going, but nope. Then I was convinced that sp2 would fix the problem but no. Finally I flashed the BIOS to the newest for this mobo (win xp support is all that was added) but still nothing. The card is revision C so I'll continue to search.... According to Windows the device "won't start".

i just love being mr. fixit. 🙂

Dahak, you're the man buddy. The D-Link Canada site was the only source for the rev.C drivers. I owe you dude! Thanks a ton. This works out great b/c now I can also bring back my friend's computer since we are partying with him tonight.
