Hi , I am trying to copy files from windows xp pc to dell rs 730 server which is running on windows 2003 sp2. every 1.5 secs i am trying to copy file.

after some time ( some times within hour some times after 6 or 7 hours) i am seeing some buch of files are not copied with error 64.

Can you please let me know what can be the problem and how to solve it

Thanks in advance

Well, there is something interfering with the network connection between the two. And it doesn't have to be a very long drop for this to happen.

To find the error, consider looking at event logs on both computers for lan driver errors, a router/switch drop, or a bad spot on a network cable. I had a friend give me a wireless router years ago that worked great for a long time, but since day #1 it hated huge transfers (and he warned me about this). It finally gave up one day, and the replacement router never had this issue.

An easier alternative might be to get a 3rd-party program to do your copies, as many of them can handle a pause in communication, and will pick up where there left off once the connection is restored.

This is an older article, but many of these apps are still avialable:
