Lately I been getting a error popup (4002.517) that kicks games and programs back to the desktop. It appears to be related to NAV 2004. The error constantly pops up over and over so fast you cant click on the 'ok' box to acknowledge it. I've had NAV 2004 for about two years and the problem just started about two weeks ago. At first I turned off the Creative Media Source Go for my Audigy2 Plat card (the first fix NAV said to try) and that worked for a while but the error popup started again after a few days and now wont stop at all.

I went thru all the so called fixes Symnatec suggest on their support site. Even completely unistalled and then reinstalled NAV 2004. The problem persists. While I had NAV 2004 uninstalled the problem seemed to go away so I'm guessing thats a permanent fix but I'd have to leave it uninstalled for about a day just to make sure. I dont dare be without a AV program for long though. I do have a router firewall and all but it isnt wise to not be without AV protection IMO.

I suppose I could get a newer version of NAV (like 2005 or 2006) I guess but I dont want to spend the money unless I know for sure it wont happen again. I really do like NAV so hoping I can continue to use it without the problem.

So my question is, has anyone else had this problem and found a permanent fix for it?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Uninstall Norton and install the free version of AVG. Even if you decide not to keep AVG (I use it on all of my machiines and like it a lot except for a few small quirks) you'll at least have anti-virus protection while you are testing for a day or two to see if the problem goes away with Norton completely uninstalled...

Last night I unistalled NAV 2004 and so far the problem hasnt returned but I'll give it a couple of days to make sure. Pretty much figured unisntalling NAV 2004 would be the final solution. Is AVG every bit as good as NAV?

Thanks for the replies,
