Error 189?

I get this error code also staating my credentals are invalid when trying to logon through an AOL account. Never an error at home through broadband. Have not tried this with other dial-ups.
Does anyone know what this is?

They seem to have also banned Netscape's Dialup ISP too, so dont' feel bad.

Not sure what they have against netscape, for $9.99/month you can't beat it. Oh well, nice to see comunism is strong here.

The AOL ban is based on IP Address and Netscape is owned by AOL.

What they have against Netscape and AOL is that they refuse to take any action against problem users. If someone on an AOL account signs up and trolls the forums, the Mods can't ban their IP because they will just be assinged a new one the next time they log in to AOL. They then create a new account and resume trolling.

Generally the Mods can send an email to an ISP's abuse department and get that person taken care of, but AOL/Netscape just ignores them. The only option this leaves AnandTech is to ban that entire IP range.

And I say good riddance.

Yeah, whenever I visit either of my parents I can not post on AT because they both have AOL. 🙁

You let them use AOL?!

They have been w/AOL so long they refuse to give it up because of their email address.🙁 I build them their systems and if the have probs I refuse to help if it is an AOL issue or something caused by AOL software or resource hogging.
