Ive revently gathered the bits to build a PC from scratch, spec as follows
AMD 64 3500+
asus A8V delux
asus ax800 pro
I have the HDD, CD, floppy, RAM and the graphics card built, and have installed the 98se, it does not however seem to notice the FX card at all, and when I try to install from the CD, or using the drivers from a magazinhe disk I get 'error number 0x80040707 Description: DLL function call crashed ISLIs ATICard setup will now terminate. Im at a loss as to whats going on, I get a picture on the moniter but in the properies I cant change or see the FX card
other things Ive notciced that may or may not be related are :-
A noise from the mobo/card only when the card is inserted (have powered up with no card to see if it was the source of the noise) sounds iike arcing elec or maybe something interfering with the fan, although there is nothing apparant.
And a chip on the black covering around the VIA 8237 chip on the mobo.
any help GREATLY appreciated.
