Erratic mouse !!!

Have been using Logitech cordless mouse, but its movements are becoming very erratic. I move it, the cursor stays ... took it apart and cleaned the ball and rollers with alcohol, problem continued. Bought a new one - problem still there. As I look back, it seems the problem began with the installation of Windows 2000ME. Anyone have any suggestions or having the same problem. Thanks for the help !!!
 
Which do you have: Windows 2000, or Windows ME?

Have you checked Logitech for newer drivers? Their FAQs for known issues? Just a thought.
