It's a Korean brand, Taijin Media TDK 2000.. it has couple thousand korean songs and even the latest american pop (beach boys to J-Lo)

product link

it says it can play DVDs but guess what.. I can't play american DVDs (which are all i care about) because of wrong region code!

This can't be! Am I stuck wasting its DVD capability simply because it's a Korean product?!?!? Is there a way to fix this or unlock or whatever? Thanks..

That's too bad that it doesn't play American DVDs...maybe there's a reghack for it or something?

But a word of caution...I wouldn't buy anything from a store whose product webpage is still titled "Untitled Document."

that was just for reference, i googled it.

it was bought from NYC where there's a huge Korean community. Taijin is apprently a very good brand, just like samsung (which is now popular in US)

Ah, gotcha...yeah sorry I thought you bought it from that Korean webpage.

Hmmm...look around for a reghack - if it's a pretty big brand then there'll probably be lots of sites available for it.

Or try http://www.vcdhelp.com

Ah.. grey market goods. Did it have a U.S. warranty card? If not, you're up the karaoke machine without a DVD player.

if you have a dvd burner, you can rip the dvds and then make them region free, or set them to the proper region and then reburn them to work on your karoke machine

You could always open up the system and see what type of drive and interface it uses...if you get lucky, maybe you can swap it out somehow. Otherwise...sorry. :)
