Err. My GF's campus cop gave me a ticket.

I tore it apart. This is the third one. What's her college gonna do to me? Prevent me from registering courses? I don't even go there.

well, my campus police are real police. We do have the volunteer brown nosers in golf carts, but the cops are cops. For tickets, if you don't pay, they send a letter to your address(off license plate)If you dont pay that, then the fine doubles & you are dropped from classes(no biggie for you) Then after that, they send that sh!t to a collection agency. wtf? my gf is 19, im 21, turning 22 in dec.

I had an instance where a ticket from a educational institution ended up going to the State for collections, who subsequently removed said amount from my tax return. I was not at all pleased.

they check the plates, then they know who owns the car. then they send it to a collection agency, and if you dont pay, they will fvck up your credit, or whomever the car is registered to.

depends on the university

the one i go to has a real police force, and will hunt your ass down
at my friend's U, we get tickets all the time that mean nothing
i think between a couple of us...5 so far?

....and they might boot your car. After which I would proceed to laugh my ass off at you for being a complete and total fvckhead.

I was told by the former chief of Police at Purdue, where they are real cops, except in the one county that Purdue doesn't own property...that if you are a student, or have a vehicle owned by a student or someone related to a current student, that not paying will get that person encumbered (can't register for classes, can't graduate, etc). But if you don't live there...then just rip it up and forget about it.

If you keep doing it in the same car, expect to be towed. They will track it and eventually, if you park on campus, they'll have you on the black list to be towed.

Why not just park in the right spot(s).

Yeah. Most places are too concerned with their students to do anything outside of this.

Or you could do what I did for my friend, whose GF lives on campus at a local college. They have a "temporary parking pass" which costs 2 dollars, good for two days (specifically the day you get it and the day after.. they mark that) I make a bunch of copies of it, 'shopped the black marker out... and he just keeps them and black marker in his glove box. Makes one for himself everytime he visits.

While normally I'd frown on this... he visits usually after 8PM and is gone by 11AM, in a lot that has more spaces open than taken, $25 ticket each time. They said if he's caught without a pass anymore, they'd tow. To me, that's not disrupting parking at all.

Agreed... don't even make an exact copy of the pass... just make something similar. They don't look that closely at the things. A few years ago while I was going back to school, they changed the color every other year. The 3rd year, the color was the same as the first year, so I hung the 1st year's plastic thing from the rear view mirror and never got a ticket, even though the year could plainly be read.

On the Ann Arbor campus, when we write parking tickets using the Auto-Cites, a car with more than four unpaid parking tickets will show up in our system as a tow. I've seen it happen...and it's not pretty when a car gets ripped sideways out of a parallel parking space Keep ripping those tickets up. I'd "hate" to see you get your car towed.

Oh, and the police at the U of M are real MCOLES-certified officers. They've been to the academy, and they carry firearms. We have a K-9 unit too.
