Just like the summary says, I'm getting "Bus error" when trying to launch krita or nautilus (and probably other applications).

I'm guessing the problem stems from a recent update of opensuse 10.2 to 10.3. But I'm not sure how to troubleshoot or fix it. There doesn't seem to be anything relevant in /var/log...

Any ideas?

Well, I never did find much of anything useful in my search for answers.

Scrubbed and updated my workstation to 11.1. Things are running well under Gnome...KDE4 just seems to bug out weirdly every now and then. Maybe it'll be nice when they finally have it to some sort of truly stable state.

Bus errors are usually a vague thing like a segfault. Since your reinstall fixed it I'd say that you're right that something got b0rked in the update.

Yeah, I do wish that Opensuse had a more elegant in-place update method of a running system. Ubuntu dist-updates have worked well for me in the past, I'm not sure why Opensuse lacks so much in this area.
