Erase a hard drive

Im buying a new drive (seagate) how do i erase everything off my old drive including the Xp before i sell it to a friend?

You could boot up with the XP cd, go through the setup proccess until it asks you where you want to install XP, and delete the partition, then F3 to exit setup. Or if you want a more secure way of deleting everything you could use the seagate diagnostic tools to write 0's to the drive.

Or if u boot into windows on the new drive you can format it with the windows disk manager utility. control panel - admin settings- comp management - disk management.

i know most drives come with some kind of bootable disk or cd, which have utilities to get this sort of thing done. if you lost the disk or cd you usually can download the files from the manufacturer's web site.
