Eragon wasn't that bad

I thought the book wasn't that bad...well it wasn't very good either, but not bad. The movie was definitely bad.

You can do worse than Eragon, but you can do ALOT better too.
I watched it with some tweens and nobody really liked it, and I thought they were the target audience.

the movie Eragon was nothing special. it was a debut movie for a lot of people, who will hopefully get better as their careers develop.

the books, while not very original or revolutionary, are still very good reads. the books are far better than the movie.

The best review of Eragon I read was this: "I liked this movie better the first time I saw it; when it was called Star Wars."

One of my friends had the greatest reaction to me telling him that, as he slowly broke down and realized that, yes, even the books rip off Lucas.

And in that vein... who here's betting on Ewoks for book 3?

It certainly was not the absolute worst I have seen, but in no way did it deserve to be the top movie release (in terms of hype and advertising).

I thought the books were fine considering they were written by someone with no experience and who was only what? 17? Movie just looked bad when I caught it on HBO at one point. Turned it off pretty quickly.

The problem with Eragon is that it's standard fantasy trash. It was hyped because this kid was supposedly so young when he wrote it. However, the talk about him being 17 is a joke. He started the book when he was 17, but finished it around 21 (could be 23). Nothing really special and the book is really a huge rip-off of Star Wars and LOTR. "Move along..."

I watched at least 1/2 of that movie and can honestly say that it sucked...horribly. I Tivo'd it and deleted it part way through without ever having seen the entire movie. It was that bad.

That movie SUCKED. I forgot what I was pushing to see instead, but one of my friends offered to pay for my ticket if I'd watch it (they tried to make me read the book; I got 100 pages into it and all the fucker did was buy meat from some douche in the mountains, lame) and I obliged. What a freakin turd fest.

Most fantasy movies where the protagonist is a young lad/boy end up being pretty cheesy except for maybe LOTR, but that movie is just epic.

But other movies like "The Last Legion" where pretty crappy as well.

I saw it while half asleep on an 8-inch screen on a transatlantic flight. It was okay.
