I just didn't get what they wrote in the last paragraph

Toms:In the next few days, we'll change our focus. Instead of covering parallel execution of multiple applications, we'll dig into the computing capabilities of these CPUs with only a single application running. Recall that our overall goal is to determine which platform is best-suited for a variety of uses.

Err... That's what you do in reguler benchmarks, or am I missing something?

They're going to bench the applications one at a time. Right now they've already finished winrar (which the AMD system won, no surprise there) and started Lame like 10 hours ago. This is not too great of a benchmark 'cause running single threads at once doesnt really take advantage of the dual cores...

I know what they're doing... I just don't get it... We've got benchmarks already with the same programs running alone... What's so special?

nothing, they're just being retards since they screwed up their "stress" test so badly and they started talking bashing the AMD cpu without having any proof at all. It went from a stress test to a "...our overall goal is to determine which platform is best-suited for a variety of uses" test.

They need to do different combos of 2 apps with the P4 Ht on and off (off simiulates 840 D performance)...then move to 3 and so on...

They are being idiots cause you dont really need to run them but for a couple of hours cause I have tracked the test and the percentages of winrar didn't change for 12 hours+....

I don't see why its even worth going to their site anymore, they are just doing what everyone else has already done except they are doing it a month later.

We at Tom's are very proud of the complexity and rigor of our testing procedures that we use for our product reviews. And we want to make it easier for you to reproduce our results, as well as in the interests of openness expose our methodologies to you.

Didn't they fry 5 MBs and 2 PSUs in the stress test because they didn't build the Intel system the right way?
