I bought the DLink Di604 router today and heard from the hotdeals that I should upgrade to the latest firmware to prevent overheating etc...

So I got everything done and downloaded the proper firmware: it's a .zip file and inside there are two files:

1. firmwareblahblah.bin
2. readme.txt

now what do I do with the .bin file? Windows XP doesn't associate that file with any programs. It just shows as a blank document, and the readme file mentions NOTHING about how to apply the firmware.. only rambles about wether to I've downloaded the right file or not... What do I do now?

There is probably a page in your router setup that says "Update Firmware". Point it to the .bin file, and it will do the rest.

Log into the router at 192.168.1.1 or whatever it is and look for the update page.
