Christian Bale will kick ass as the Dark Knight.

I would rather see Darren Aronofsky's Batman: Year One get greenlighted but this still has potential.

Before everyone gets their panties in a bunch:
[*]No more neon-Gotham and prosthetic nipples ; this movie is steering clear of the previous franchise and is likely to be much darker
[*]The director is Christopher Nolan, who directed movies such as Memento and Insomnia.
[*]It's rumoured that the script will be based on the Batman: Year One graphic novel
[*]Michael Caine will be playing Alfred. Yes, the previous actor played Alfred quite well, but its Michael fuvking Caine
[*]The villian is rumoured to be Scarecrow edit: or Ra's al Ghul
[*]Christian Bale is the BEST choice for Batman. Bar none. Just watch American Psycho

Who will play Scarecrow? I think Sean Hayes would be perfect for that part.

I thought he was cool in Equilibrium, even though I thought the movie overall kind of sucked.

Scarecrow? Kind of a stupid villain, although I suppose they've used all the good ones already. Christian Bale will definitely make a good Batman.

A deranged professor with a fixation on fear uses his chemical expertise to poison the city of Gotham. Doesn't sound too bad to me; especially in comparison to the riddler, poison ivy, mr. freeze, etc.
Oh, actually another rumoured villian is Ra's al Ghul

Wow, I never thought I'd see a batman 5 after having George Clooney play batman. Ah Well, I guess they can do it since they're making Jurassic Park 4 and Die Hard 4

u'd think with all the evil geniuses cooped up in the arkum asylum one of them would have figured how to break out by now, maybe all at once...

Yeah, I'm afraid he'd give the movie too much of a campy comic book feel. But I guess we'll see

Uh, what do you think happens in the comics?

its a sad state of affairs when more people want to talk about how arnold shouldve gotten an oscar for Terminator 2 than a new batman movie :p

scarecrow - howard stern - funny, tall, long hair. I just think his height is perfect, skinny tall guy but i watch the cartoon a lot so that what he remind me off

Joel Schumacher really screw up the batman stuff, i agree, all those neon lights crap sux

I think George Clooney was the worse batman, he always had that smiling face, batman doesn't smile like that

Christian bale looked like he can pull it off.. just put on that american psycho serious face and it'll work..

Directed by Nolan? I'll probably go see this in the theater then. Following, Memento, and Insomnia were all great noir-ish films, with a wonderful washed-out and bleak look. He'll suit the Batman franchise well, and probably do the best job since Burton, if not better.

The screenplay is apparently being done by David Goyer, who most of you would know from the Blade series (I haven't seen them). This may be decent yet. :p

The only thing that worries me is that David Goyer also wrote the screenplay for Nick Fury (made for tv crap), Crow: City of Angels, and Kickboxer 2 :(
