I got fried on wow, its a well crafted game but its too easy and thus draws the kiddys and morons, I'm finding eq2 to be much better... you gotta know eq2 is a moving target, more character slots, soon off line selling, lower group death exp loss.. there really listening.. and its working
Gurck please calm down
Im a long time lurcker here..admire the site and community.
pvp isnt my flavor.. If I could find a game that brought back the days of earily eq1 I would be in hog heaven
Gurck please SIT DOWN. Its ok you have your own thoughts.. and they matter (well to you)
I know sony is the debil and blizzard is doing this as a charity I understand.
Please calm down.
Glad I finally loged in and looking foward to many exachanges of opions.

I just installed WoW tonight...

currently installing the latest patch and I guess I'll play a little bit. This is my first time playing WoW. I also want to try out EQ2, but I figure one game at a time:)

Welcome to the forums:thumbsup:

I found EQ2 to be a lot more enjoyable than WoW also, but the current lack of PvP and those stupid rules they have of not being able to assist people that are already in a battle just completely turn me off.

I would give anything to get the days of 1999 EQ back again too :)

I agree about the not assisting nongroup members. Was leveling my cleric today and part of the fun of playing a cleric is drive by heals and buffs. I guess its about not power leveling. But all the same I miss it. Groups are awesome though and the group with compenent peaple is just too much fun. But thats really true in all games.

I've heard EQ2 is much improved since I stopped playing 2-3 months ago. If they implement off-line selling, that might tempt me to go back, though I would dread doing everything all over again. :)

Lv. 43 Paladin, Butcherblock. #1 paladin on my server before I stopped playing.

I haven't heard that, but I don't usually hang out on the EQ2 forums. Only skim the headlines every few days.

Would be cool if they do implement it. I could sell a lot more stuff.

heh..forgive the blank post above. I just wanted to say your enjoyment with eq2 really depends on your system. It does require a pretty up to date puter.
Why is it so hard to resist saying postcount==postcount+1? Is there a doctor in the house??

Eq2 Doesn't seem fun to me since it is so serious in roleplaying and not assisting people already in battles? WTF? why not, you can do it in real life :)

But the graphics are sexy, super sexy

and they will only get better. knowing SOE, each expansion and/or level cap increase will come with even more visually appealing treats. Imagine a set of fully relfective shiny vanguard armor. YUM!

EQ1 is still better than both EQ2 and WoW. I'd almost say the two put together. I've played EQ1, FFXI, Ragnarok Online, EQ2, and WoW. EQ1 wins everytime.

FFXI is a close second, there is so much in that game, its just not quite there. The job system absolutely rocks. Combat was actually fun.The art is really nice. The downfall in the art is that its repeated too often. Damn PS2 demographic.

EQ2 - theres something missing. But its intagible, can't quite tell you what it was. I just need an instant lvl 50 char to raid with, then I think I could prolly stomach it. I thoroughly enjoyed the 1-25 content, then it just sorta died for me. Most likely because the majority of the people I moved to EQ2 with stopped playing.

WoW - too easy. It feels weird to say that, but once you max your level and have done 1738 instance runs, theres not much left to do. The pace of the game needed to be a bit slower. Make players experience ALL the content.

Ragnarok Online - just not my type of game. Mass solo-fest.

EQ1 - EQ almost killed itself once the Sigil team left (Brad McQuaid, etc). EQ live, kunark, velious absolutely rock. Luclin was atrocious. PoP wasn't all that much better. (Gates of Discord) and (Omens of War) have added a ton of very interesting raid encounters. The OoW end-game encounter was just beaten recently. Its been half a year since OoW was released. Dragons of Norrath is like LDoN lite+ Velious lite. A lot of new single group xp trials, and a couple raid zones filled with dragons.

Vanguard is the only upcoming title that even has a chance of dethroning EQ1 as the MMORPG king. If it can recreate, or even come close to, the feel of early EQ, its going to be a huge success.

I am glad to see this hasn't degenerated into the dreaded WoW v EQ2 v FF XI which MMORPG is best extravaganza. I am having lots of fun with WoW, it has usurped my limited gaming time. I guess that would be my one criticism as outlined above: at times it is too easy. I haven't played the other popular ones right now, but in WoW it is easy to level up by yourself killing monsters all alone. When you do so you can level up rather quickly. I try to avoid this as I am now level 43 and not too many to go before capping at 60. Hopefully Blizzard will release high level content soon so there will be something to do besides starting over witha new character.

I had thought maybe I would migrate over to EQ 2 when level 60 comes. Is this true there is no PvP? I would prefer it if there's not.

Thanks in advance.

<-- likes teh curvy women. :p

Those purple-haired nightelves run a close second, however. ;)

Wow is kind of easy, but they are releasing an expansion pack this summer (so goes the rumor) that will allow you to level up more, new items, new instances, new classes to play. WoW has so much potential it's not even funny, what you're playing now is a product that has just been born and just learned to walk. That's one of the reasons I'm not switching to another game like EQ2.

Bleh. Vanguard is going to be the ultimate incarnation of the treadmill, power-gamer LevelQuest archetype. Most newer games are at least throwing in the pretense of being solo gamer friendly, but Vanguard is pretty much saying that you'll need to group and grind and you'll pay them for it and enjoy it damn it!!!

Darkfall Online is the last faint hope for MMORPGs. The next very very faint barely-even-a-hope behind that would be a 3D re-write for UO and return to pre-Renaissance ruleset.

I have to agree with you. I loved EQ2, and the first 30 levels were the most fun i've had in any MMORPG in a LONG time. But levelling is getting a bit tiring now, especially since i can only put in a few hours a week.

So i've cancelled my account for about 6 weeks now. I'll start again once my iXPS2 arrives though (hopefully sometime next week), since i'll be able to put 10+ hrs at work a day (easy job!).

I haven't seen the adventure packs yet, so hopefully that will bring some 'zing' back into the game for me.

From the childish and quite incoherent tone of your post, I have to say I'm not surprised at all that you're plugging Sony. I'm glad I don't have to deal with you in my MMOG of choice :)

I totally agree. I have been playing WoW since it has been released and not all but alot of players are little kids and morons. No maturity at all.

Any mmorpg will have its share, it's one of the things which would improve if they started charging 20 bucks a month. I've found the '1337 k1dd13z' are much more common on the alliance side and in low level zones. Friends and/or a guild go a long way toward combating this.

the plus for me playing WoW is the PvP. i come from the FPS, and this is my first RPG. PvP is one of the funnest things in the game to me. somewhere in the thread i saw some say SOE making EQ2 better, i wish SOE would have worked on PlanetSide the way they worked on EQ1-2. SOE would have dominated the FPS world, but...they gave in to the ppl who complain, wine, and b!tch because they suck and prolly the first FPS they have played. that game had so much potential. sry off subject.
