Epson R200 / R300 ... epson compatible print cartridges

I like my R200, especially the way it prints on DVD, but boy to I hate the fact that when you change one cartridge all your other cartridges will drop at least five percent in ink levels during the charge cycle after the change. I've gotten to the point where any other cartridges that are close to being empty, I change them at the same time, otherwise they get drained down to nothing anyway. This should be against the law. This is a royal ripoff by Epson.
 
Interesting....2 questions:

1. Has anyone had any luck, good or bad, with 'compatible' cartridges for Epson R200 printers? I heard they are finicky about their ink.

2. If the reviews are favorable, does anyone wanto to split an order? Who needs 8 EACH!? Well, I suppose some do but not me; I would go in halfs or thirds with one or 2 others.
 
I bought these last time and they work fine. I usually change them all at once since they are so cheap and sometimes the printer gives me error if i just change one. There was a review last time these were posted but i couldn't find the thread.
 
Nice, i have an r200 i got off craigslist for $20 just because of the disc printing functionality but have never used 😛 thx op
 
I have a laser printer... better deal IMHO. I print 2500 pages for 30 bucks. B/W only, if i need colors I go somewhere.
 
Some people go through ink like water. And for the person above who was B&M'ing about Epson and a "royalty ripoff," I'm fairly certain all the other companies do it too. That's why you should buy less expensive cart's and not the actual name brand ones.
 
I picked up on this deal last year and have not had any problems with the inks. I've used this mostly to print labels on dvds for the kids--school, sports, the dreaded annual (xmas) brag letter, etc.

It amazes me how much of the color ink seems to be wasted in keeping the printer nozzles clean. I only print black and white labels and usually keep the printer turned off when I am not printing a batch of these discs. Nevertheless, I still go through one set of color cartridges for every 3-4 black cartridges. I can see the need for more black ink than the color inks and may just buy some black inks to balance out the supply.
 
I 48 of these last time when they were $48. I've been using this brand (G&G / Ridata) for the past 2 years with no problems.
 
HP has tried to introduce a ink recycling system in their newer printers, but I don't think it really works.
With 6 different ink cartridges you would need 6 separate recycle tanks and vacuum and such to reuse the ink and on the HP printers, it looks like the recycle ink reservoir is just a big tray, not 6 individual run off containers.
I could be wrong and I'm sure a knowledgeable HP rep will chime in, but I don't think the function is available yet.

Same here, still have 4 of each color and its been about a year since I bought them. Been buying these now for about 2 years, never a problem in either my R200 printer or my new R340 printer. Cannot beat the price, and the color is not to bad, swift ink looks better, but at $1.30~ per color my broke ass can afford these, when bought in bulk.
 
I read where Kodak did a study that revealed InkJet ink averaged $4000-5000 per gallon. I would have expected even more. That should be illegal.

I'll admit I am an ink miser as I use only OEM carts and get ripped off big time. I've tried several off brands and each and every time it clogged my print head. Since my Canon's all have head intigrated print heas, the cost to replace the head was more than I paid for the pritner, so in the trash they went.

We have one of those ripoff Cartridge Worlds here in town. They wanted 60% of new cart price to refill my carts and 25% more than the cost of a new cart to refill my laser toner. Morons.

 
My printer recently died and Im looking at buying one of these printers. Im wondering what is the shelf life of this ink if its not in use? I dont go through ink that quickly (although if I had that much lying around, Id probably use a bit more) so Id hate to possibly buy this and then have half or more of the ink go dry before use. And these work as well as the manufacturers catridges?

Well since you took the time out of your busy life to make your 5th post in 4 years almost I can say, my ink I have has been sitting around for 1 year so far with out any problems I can detect. The cartridges are vacuumed sealed very well, so I am sur that has a big play in storage life.

No, there most likely would be a difference in photo printing from OEM. If you don't use the printer that often, maybe you could look for a deal on a laser printer and never have to worry about ink getting old or clogging.
