Epson R200 Printer

I have an Epson R200 that I primarily use to print on printable CD/DVD media.
I have been using non OEM replacement cartridges which seem to do ok if I print regularliy, but if I go a week or 2 without printing the printer gets clogged and I have to do a few cleaning cycles which use a TON of ink.

I dont print that often, but when I do I'd like to be able to clean my printer without running out of ink.
Would I be better off with a cheapo ebay continuous ink system or auto reset refillable cartridges? both of which I have seen kits under $40 on ebay.

I've already junked 2 R200, 1 was fixed under Epson warrantly but I had to drive 50 miles round trip twice to have it fixed.

I bought a R320 and a refillable ink cartridge kit for about $40 IIRC. Works good for me since I also don't print on printable CD/DVDs often. The only current problem is that the CD/DVD holder does not feed correctly while printing, I have to give it a little push.

I also have 2 hacked Pixma iP5000 for CD/DVD printing that I don't use anymore because ink is almost gone. Paid about $20 for the holder via eBay years ago IIRC.

A friend of mine told me how he got his Epson feeding the CD tray correctly. We both have CD printing versions.
He glued a strip of paper across the end of the tray. It gives the wheels a bit more to grab on to. The paper goes across the whole width of the tray and is about 1/8 to 1/4"

Was the refillable ink cartridge kit you got for your R320 easy to refill and reset for the printer to see it as full?
I'm thinking of going that route with my R200 since I really don't use it that often. Seems it would be an easier system to deal with then a CIS. I read the CIS systems are better if you do allot of daily printing.

I have also thought about getting a new all in one scanner/printer that can print on CD/DVD..any recommendations?

If you're printing mostly black and white, pick up a laser printer instead. I've never been too happy with inkjets myself.

I have thought about a laser for regular prints, but I need a printer that also prints on CD/DVDs

Epson is about the only game in town for straight up CD/DVD printing.
Of course you can buy some exotic disk printers, but... $$$
