Windows 98 SE & Norton Antivirus updated automatically
Old Printer is Epson Stylus Color 600 (see the thread " I can only print once, before..." on Technical Issues for background on THIS one... ugh!!)

Thoughts? Ideas? suggestions? ....

Canon. More robust print heads, lower print cost, no stupid chipped ink carts (and thus 3rd party ink available), much less fragile build of the entire printer.

Canon however do not bother make Linux drivers. If you're on Linux, it's going to have to be Epson.

One l;ast question, I have always used parallel printing (still on 98SE)... do I jump to USB or is parallel still going to be fine???

Parallel is fine if you don't mind the slightly slower speed, but for WinXP, I'd definately prefer USB for its convenience.
