Epson 740 Win2K drivers on XP?

I want to be able to use the ink status indicator, which I don't believe will work w/ XP's drivers, so I need to install Epson's drivers. All they offer are Win2K drivers. WIll these work OK in XP?

When I tried I wouldn't install. It just gave me errors or told me not to install.

What does epson's site say about it?

Epson's site says you're SOL for now until they (ever) get around to doing an XP driver for your printer. I feel your pain, I have a 640 that isn't supported.

That epson page seems to say to use the win2k driver. I think I tried to use the win2k driver with me stylus900 and had some errors, as well. I'm not 100% sure I ever tried, tho. I know that they used to tell you to use the win98 drivers with win2k(before they had win2k drivers). When using the win98 drivers in win2k, there were errors, but you could just cancel them out and the driver installed fine.

My computer is down until I get a new cpu, else I would try for you.
