>Cheaper than the ink!

That's the problem, the printer manufacturers lose money on the printer so they can make it up on ink. I paid more for my Canon BJC-6000 but I can buy cartridges on Egay for $4.50.

quick bump for this...just bought this printer at OD as a temp replacement until I can get a laser printer, but its output is pretty darn nice. Comes with a black cartidge and color cartridge, too. Slow but quiet, and the thing has to go for at least $10 on eb*y once the ink runs out. Easy setup too.

Overall it's definitely a nice deal.

I hate Epson since I owned the 640, but I may do this if I can use the $15 off $40 Staples B&M coupon at OD. I would imagine they will match competitors coupons. Then I will have an extra printer for when my HP 842c runs out of ink.

Cheap ink for this printer that actually works like the factory stuff!
I've been using them for about 4 months now with an Epson 600 and an 860.
Black $2.99, Color $4.99, free shipping available. Another e8ay find.

Actually though, this Epson model is one of the cheapest for factory ink, so they are not trying to screw you with a cheap price only to get you later with high priced ink, like Lexmark does.

Don't know about Snyder81's Epson 640, or this 480, but my Epson 600 runs circles around my brothers HP, in both speed and quality, as well as consumables cost, and my 860 simply blows away the excellent 600. Like many printer owners, I think Epson makes the all around best printers by a wide margin, and while I keep testing other models, I always end up with an Epson for everyday use.

HP is the worst on the ink guys... Try to find some cheap HP (like $6.50)!

I agree that Epson printers rock. My $250 HP printer failed in 1 year on me, so I bought a bargain, refurbished Epson Color 600 to replace it. Not only was it $150 cheaper than the closest HP printer, but it was very fast and came out with high quality prints at the time. I bought an Epson Photo 700 shortly after, and I can say I have yet to see an HP printer under $500 come anywhere close to my Epson in photo quality prints. I am very satisfied with my printers, and I am still using them today.

2 thumbs down for HP, 2 thumbs up for Epson
