Epson 1660 negative scanner

Has anyone used the negative scanner for the Epson 1660 photo scanner? I would think that the pics would be better quality, but they seem to come out more blurry than if i use the actual picture. I tried using "unsharp mask" but that made some parts of the pic look too grainy. Any ideas?

I don't think these negative scanner attachment on the lid is as good as a dedicated negative/slide scanner. Even though it says it can do it I would take that info with a grain of salt.

Yeah I'm finding that out the hard way. I've read some user reviews how people were satisfied with the results, but I guess I'm wanting to be totally impressed by it and it's just not there. One of these days I'll have to play with it some more.

While the higher resolution of the Epson Perfection 3200 Photo prompts the reviewers I've read to state that it's just about as good as any decent dedicated negative scanner (for at least half the cost), I doubt - simply because of the limited resolution - that the Epson Perfection 1660 would be capable of the same quality. It appears you are SOL. 🙁
