Decisions, Decisions!
Can't decide!
Comparible specs but I want slide/negative scanning capability which I have to buy extra for the HP. The EPSON is only USB, the HP I can go USB or parrallel. I read where the EPSON's twain were a little flaky! Is this true?

well I would go for the 1200u or the 1200s. I haven't heard anything about flaky TWAIN stuff that you talk about.

I have a Epson 1200u. Got it for $98.00 from VA way back when. Works fine for me.

Thanks for the opinions...I'm still undecided.
As far as the flaky twain drivers for the EPSON. I can't remember where I read it, but I remember wondering...could you define "flaky". I hate when they say something like that and don't define what they are saying.
Office Depot just dropped the price of the HP Scanjet 5300 to $249 from $299. That just makes things more complicated....hmmmmm.

I have the HP and I like it. The only gripe is it doesn't include the full version of some OCR software!

I ended up going against the popular support for the EPSON and bought the HP Scanjet 5300Cse. So far it's working great although it is a little large for it's size.
Couldn't pass it up especially after the $50 price drop at Office Depot. They sold it for $249 which put it cheaper than those I found at pricewatch.

I've played with the 5300 at work. It does quite well. You should enjoy it. Best of luck.
