Epox, sound cuts out at 39 degrees?

I?ve just upgraded my old box with a new Epox 8rda+, cpu, memory and graphic card. And at first everything seemed to be running along nicely.

But after a while the sound started to stutter and then it silenced. I rebooted but the sound was gone. The next day it all worked fine again. Heat problem?

So I did a test where I play an mp3 and stress the cpu 100% to push the temperature.
And when reaching 39 degrees in system temperature the sound cuts out.

39 degrees doesn?t sound like much to me, shouldn?t the Epox be able to handle that?
Should I improve the cooling or return the motherboard for a new one? What system temperatures are acceptable?

Regards Leif?

Possibly a faulty motherboard, but what psu are you using? Additional spec. will help.

Sounds like it might be a broken PCB trace to me. Your motherboard expands slightly when it heats up. When this happens, if you have broken trace the two ends of the trace are pulled apart resulting in a broken conductor. Or likewise if it is a bad solder joint.

You might want to consider RMAing the board if this persists. But first I'd make sure I was using the latest BIOS update and the latest nForce drivers. Also make sure to patch your OS up and that all your physical connections are made right. If none of this helps, go for the RMA. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies, the psu which has served me well for some years now is rated at 300W. I know that it is considered to be a bit on the low side nowadays and I just noticed that the 5v drops from 4.92 to 4.86 when pushing the system.
Is that a normal drop or am I close to the border here?

But I?m leaning towards a faulty board anyway since the board has twice screamed about not being able to identify my memory (code C1 during start up). This happened when doing a cold reset trying to get the sound back after ?overheating?. If I let the system cool down for 10 minutes everything is back to normal again.
