Epox EP-9NPA3Ultra OR DFI nF4 Ultrad-D

Im going to be buying an opteron proccesor with this. Still haven't decided on 144, 146, or 165. Which board is better overall? Which will overclock the opteron better? Thanks for the help.

Epox's better* nF4 mobos have been know to do 315+ stably for the HTT but that is almost a given for the DFI aswell. I would say go with the DFI, since the price difference isn't much and it has a more *complete* package of features. Also if you run into trouble, those boards are much more well known then the Epox so your more than likely going to find a solution faster.

If you are new to building and overclocking, get the Epox. (It's a good board, if you know what you are doing or not, but will simply be easier to deal with if you are new to this stuff.)

Get the 144 and save some bucks. A 146 won't clock any higher, since the new single core opties all top out around 2.7-2.9g anyway.

Either the Epox or DFI will do 300HTT, so you're pretty much set for 2.7 gig.

Get the GSKILL 2 x 1 gig DDR500 3-4-4-8 kit ($150) , set mem divider to 133 or 166, set HTT multiplier to x3 and crank it up to 300FSB or more, and you are set. for FX 57+ speeds.

IF you are willing to do a lot of research on OCing and get aquainted with the process well, then the extra options available on the DFI are great. The GENIE BIOS has tons of overclocking options that will allow you to perfect just about any OC.

For the extra money, the DFI also gives you some other features, such as Dual Gigabit LAN and the ability of modding the board to SLi. nVidia supposedly disabled this feature, but if you look around on DFIStreet there are still people unlocking the SLi potential of their Ultra-Ds.
