I wonder if this thing can take XP-Ms. I do have an old 1700+ that I could use (replace the big hulking case that my parents use), but if it can take an XP-M then I might have to get two :D

AMD Athlon, Athlon XP, Duron, Sempron if it'll support Sempron don't see why it shouldn't support M series as well :)

That's what I figured, and EPOX + nForce2 have been good about it in the past - but I'll still just buy one in the time being, would hate to be stuck with two (and i'm not even sure my 2400+ XP-M is still alive, I know the motherboard is dead but haven't messed with the CPU since)

Pretty much any NF1/NF2 board will take an AXP-M.
If not by default, simply a small jumper wire or two in the correct socket hole location before you install CPU and it will work.

And yes, this does work fine wih full size AGP cards.

Someone on another forum also said this takes a full size AGP card, so is it one AGP and on PCI slot, will a card fit in both?

Availibility is also confusing me on this, is it just now available, or has it been around a long time and just now had a price drop?

I didn't find much info on the Epox site, is there someplace with more detail?

Yes, both a full size AGP card (even one with aftermarket cooler) and PCI card will fit at the same time.

The unit has been around for a while, but with Intel for power.
I think the AMD version just came out.
Similar layout for both though.
Check for reviews on EPoX Mini ME to see how the Intel version rates.
The AMD version with NF2 chipset is much better than the Intel powered units.

Mine arrived earlier... Very cool looking system... Installation of all parts has been a breeze to say the least....It is setup on the inside very well, so your work space is not constricted..It comes with a remote control, which is about the size of a credit card..Front LCD panel is very cool..I am loading XP right now, so I will give everyone an update after I get all installed and hooked up to my entertainment center.

Any questions feel free to PM me and I will try my best to answer them..
At this point I feel the price is a steal, seems to be a very well constructed SFF..

jekyll,

What hardware did you install in the SFF, and how loud is it?

Dangit, I bit. :|

Have an extra Athlon XP 1700+ T-Bred B (my overclocker :). Did 2.4GHz on air) and 1GB of PC3200 ram sitting around. Maybe I'll hook it up to the other TV.

All is running very well, I just threw in some old stuff I had laying around: Athlon XP 1800+, 2 x 512 DDR 333, 60GB harddrive, and a DVD burner. It is very quiet system..Not much noise at all..
The software that comes with it is very cool, and the little remote is cool. You can play MP3's without loading windows and you can turn the system on/off with the remote as well. Pair this up with your Home entertainment system and a wireless keyboard/mouse and you have a very nice SFF system for cheap. I will post anymore thoughts once I have a little more time to mess around with it..

My buddy just ordered one also, once he seen it..

Cool little HTPC box. How does the LCD look when lit up? I imagine putting an AGP video card, PCI TV card, and a little 802.11G USB stick in the back.

Damn! Finally decided to take the plunge and they're OOS now. Hopefully they get some more in soon.

Unless you're planning on playing games through this box, a separate AGP card is not necessary. I have an nForce2 IGP setup connected to my TV that I record TV (PVR-150) and watch movies through and the IGP is more than sufficient.

I have an old PC about as powerfull as this Epox box, with a Radeon AIW, and with nothing else running it seems to barely get by, tossing its cookies sometimes when switching video modes using MMC from Ati. I also have a Radeon 7500 AIW wonder laying around, would either of those be good to make the Epox a basic PVR, or should I be looking at a video in card with some level of hardware compression?

I bought two of these, came on Monday. Go NewEgg, no rush processing, yet same day shipping.
I have built one. Case will only take one 5.25" drive and one 3.5" drive unless you take out the card reader. I noticed that the IDE connector came installed with a zip-tie preventing the cable end from reaching the the optical drive (NEC 2500A); just cut that though. The second unit came with the plastic IEEE1394 cover peice still in place, the board does have one front firewire port. PS/2 ports in front (none in back) wouldn't let me connect my KVM, if you have a USB cable (or PS/2 one that has a plastic block preventing you from further separation of the kb/mouse/video cables) no problem.
The information necesary to install all the other components is split between the two manuals it comes with. One booklet tells you to check the other manual (motherboard manual) for CD-ROM audio connector. Would've been nice to have everything in one manual. The single heatsink it comes with (heatpipes + mostly copper but a bit small looking) dispates heat from both the NB and CPU. The TIM interfacing with the NB looks thick (2-3mm) so I don't think you could replace this. CPU TIM you could change.
Stealth optical bay is nice, hidden card reader also nice, LCD is nice (clock, shows system stuff without Windows loading). The box mentions playing mp3s and audio CDs from any internal HDD, and "even from USB flash drives" (haven't tried this from flash or external HDD). Other nice thing is that it has both optical and RCA-like SPDIF out and stereo RCA out. IR Remote works, has mostly media functions (play, pause, stop etc) and can power on the computer.
BIOS is surprisingly good IMO for SFF. No 1mhz FSB adjustments but good CPU and mem volts adjustments, multiplier adjustments.
Tried with 2500+ Barton and no-name TCC4 2x 256. Haven't tried OC'ing much since room is hot and mem isn't the greatest. Also haven't tried playing MP3s.
Lemme know if you want more info.

Great overclocker that does do 1MHz FSB adjustments. Select Expert in Bios.
Using it with an AXP-M 2400 at 203x11 or 2233MHz. Running about 52C.
I have several SFF and HTPC's and this is by far the quietest stock, as drives are louder than fans.
No floppy header (if you need floppy and can't use USB).
Front LCD display time in 24 hour format, not 12 hour, and shows time even when turned off.
Bios shows Nov 2004 while website shows latest as Sept 2004...
One of the best for pre-wired cable routing.
Just started installing Windows, so won't know more about it's HTPC and HDTV performance until tomorrow.
TV out usually blows with nvidia, so I'm expecting to have to install an ATi card, but we'll see.

EDIT: Tested video out (TV Out), and it is better than most nvidia boards. On a scale of 1-10, with 10 best, most nvidia TV-Out's would rate about a 5, while this Epox rates about a 7, and if you went with any ATi TV-Out, the ATi would rate a 9 in comparison. This Epox should be good enough for most, as long as you have a very sharp and crisp TV.
