Epox mvp3g2 voltage/overclocking

Well in the manual it says that the dipswitches only can configure up to 2.4v then it jumps to 2.8v. Is there anyway i can configure something inbetween those voltages?? My k6-2 400 wont even post at 504 with 2.4v so i want to go for that. My alpha can handle all of this. It is barely breaking a sweat. It is running at the highest 104 degrees. The oem heatsink ran 125+ so i know what the limits are. Also i could attach my nidac or however its spelled 11cfm blower onto it or something. Should i got for 504@2.8volts?? Im scared of burning out the chip. I know it is only 40$ but i am building a duron and dont wanna waste $$$. thx for the help

It works like this:

To get 2.3 volts for instance, set the switches for 2.2 AND 2.1 volts.

You are only adding the .x values each time, not 2.x each time.

I KNOW about that. i am at 2.3 volts. the problem is i want 2.5-2.7 and they dont have settings in the manual

Well, I don't have my manual to hand, but here's how I would go about it.

Set 2.4v to start with (the board has that setting, I run my K6-3 in a MVP3G2 @2.4v).

2.5v = 2.4v + 2.1v
2.6v = 2.4v + 2.2v
2.7v = 2.4v + 2.2v + 2.1v

also, my board's highest multiplyer is 112. is there a way to go higher than that?

I don't think you will get higher than 112mhz.

Epox boards are designed with stability, not overclockability in mind. I've never tried, myself.

If you are using a K6-3 it probably won't appreciate FSB speeds greater than about 110mhz in any case.

well in my overclocking tries it didnt help. thx for the new voltage though. i tried going from my 400 to 504@ 112x4.5 with voltages from 2.6-2.8. they all would post but none could get into windows. there would be the usual error msgs like cant find a file or failed to initalize something. well then i tried 5.0x100 at 2.6-2.7 and they all failed to boot into windows. well thx greg for the voltages and maybe i can get a 500 chip and overclock that. also the bios reported the chip never rose above 107 F at 2.8volts. well it was worth the try. btw i have an alpha pal35t.

also my k6-2 runs very stable at 448 112x4.0 2.3v

Yes, K6-2's don't mind higher FSB speeds as much, but the K6-3 doesn't handle it very well - maybe because of the onboard cache.
