I'm building a computer with an AMD Athlon XP 2100+ processor and was having trouble deciding whether to use the EP 8K9A2+ or the EP 8RDA+. In some reviews they said the 8RDA+ was better and on others they said the 8K9A2+ was better. They both cost about the same amount on newegg.com. I don't think I need a RAID, in terms of needing to use another hard drive (if thats all it's useful for, I'm not sure) and I don't need Firewirer support. Does anybody have input on which board is better. Any opinions or information would also be helpful.

Since the 8K9A2+ is only slightly cheaper than the 8RDA+, I'd go for the 8RDA+, as it's faster and more feature-filled (even though you don't need the features).

if you don't need ide raid, then i would go for the 8RDA+. it is slightly faster. i needed the ide raid, so i personally got the 8K9A2+. it's been running pretty good. good luck.

Thanks for your info. I was kinda of leaning to the 8RDA+ myself. I also was wondering if it was better to wait and see if the new kt400a boards and the 8RDA2+ board come out next year before buying the 8RDA+.

Looks like Via is planning to release the KT400a beggining of the year--late Jan or early Feb. In the test that I saw, the kt400 led the 8rda+ in most of the tests. Hopefully that means that the kt400a will be even faster...plus raid...plus serial...whew!
