epox motherboard

what are the chances of a motherboard with integrated audio not being compatible with the speakers? I just bought an Epox 8rga+ motherboard from cnetpc.com and when i had set up everything, there were no sound coming out from the from two speakers. I'm using an Altec Lensing 251 speakers ( 5 speakers and 1 woofer). I sent it back to them and the technician there told me that the board is working fine and it is not compatible with my speakers. Is that possible. What makes me doubt this is that I tested the speakers on my friends Epox 8rga motherboard and it works fine. Do you think there's a defect on the board or it doesnt support the speakers ? Do reply as soon as possible. Thanks

That is a possability. I would contact the speaker manufacture and see what they say. You are more likley to get a straight answer from then then you are epox
